  • What are the benefits of radio frequency treatments?

This treatment can be administered without the necessity of X-rays or medications, even though X-rays or medications may have been involved in previous diagnostic processes or treatments. It is believed to activate the body's innate healing capacity. Often, there is an immediate alleviation of pain, along with enhanced mobility and functionality. The procedure is non-invasive, requiring no anesthesia. Any post-treatment effects are typically minor, such as temporary soreness that diminishes quickly.

  • How many radio frequency treatments are needed and how often?

Typically, most conditions need 3 to 5 sessions. These treatments are spaced 5 to 10 days apart, varying based on patient tolerance and tissue response.

  • What is the success rate of shockwave treatment?

The globally documented rate of clinical success with Shockwave therapy falls within the range of 77% to 80%. Patients under our care have experienced outcomes consistent with these figures. In cases where individuals do not respond positively to the treatment, alternative therapy options will be explored, and referrals to suitable specialists will be arranged as necessary.

  • Does the treatment hurt?

The extent of discomfort experienced during each treatment session may vary depending on the patient's existing level of pain in the area. Nonetheless, the majority of patients find the treatments highly tolerable as they typically last only about 5 minutes. Additionally, the treatment intensity can be adjusted to provide some initial analgesic effect at the start of each session.

  • Will there be pain after the treatment?

Following the treatment, most patients typically experience immediate pain relief. However, within 2-4 hours, they may encounter soreness in the treated area. This soreness is usually described as quite tolerable and can persist for a few hours to several days. If you do experience this soreness, it's advised not to apply ice to the area, as one of the desired effects of Shockwave treatments is to induce an "inflammatory response." Consequently, the use of anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, or Advil is not recommended. Many patients have reported positive outcomes with Tylenol. You may opt to take medication as needed or based on the recommendation and guidance of your medical physician. Typically, the soreness subsides within 4-24 hours without requiring any intervention.

  • Are there any precautions or contraindications to shockwave therapy?

    YES. General contraindications and/or precautions:

    • Recent Cortisone Injections: Avoid Shockwave treatment if cortisone injections have been administered within one month prior to the start of the treatment.
    • Blood Thinning Medications: Exercise caution if the patient is on blood thinning medications like Coumadin or Heparin.
    • Heart or Circulatory Problems: Patients with heart or circulatory issues should approach Shockwave therapy with caution.
    • Cancer in or Around Treatment Area: Shockwave therapy is not advisable for individuals with cancer present in or around the intended treatment area.
    • Pregnancy: Pregnant individuals should refrain from undergoing Shockwave treatment.
    • Diabetes: Patients with diabetes need to be cautious when considering Shockwave therapy.
